Paperweights
These are custom-made for a
specific purpose. For example, to promote a company product or as
a memento of a special occasion. They are a lasting, quality,
gift.
It is a misconception that shapes as cast as the finished item. Most paperweights are rough cast as multiples before machining into single items which are then hand-polished to a fine finish. Shapes are best, therefore, kept simple. The material itself has a reasonably weighty feel and so it is not necessary to make an item bulky. If price is important, the volume of material should be kept down. A slab for instance, instead of a cube.
A simple 2½" cube is the most popular form but this can be enhanced by turned corners which gives an attractive faceted effect, reflecting more light, and producing a jewelled appearance. A thin layer of translucent or opaque color may be added to the base, but does involve additional cost. We are pleased to advise no the best way to achieve design ideas within the constraints of the medium, and your budget.

Due to the process, previously encapsulated items include
fibres, metal, components, electronic parts, vials of oil &
water, medals, currency, car parts, minerals, printed card &
screen prints. It should be noted that resistance to heat &
solvent attack is necessary for successful encapsulation. For
this reason, most self-printed material does not stand up to the
process but we are happy to quote for supplying this service.
Financial Tombstones
These are manufactured as a
lasting record of company mergers, takeovers, large financial
arrangements and transactions. Usually in slab format with a
single or double-sided printed and surrounded by a clear acrylic
border. The size & format are determined by the customer.
This may be the same format for a range of events or differ
widely each time. Company prospectuses can be prepared in the
form of a minature booklet which is then encapsulated in block
form. Artwork needs to be supplied.
It is a popular business gift available in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Prices are dependent on the complexity and quantity of the item required.
Encapsulated items include screen prints, printed cards, components, medals, currency, liquids in glass vials or droplets. Not all products will encapsulate successfully; testing is usually necessary.
